The prosperity gospel teaches that spoken faith functions as a spiritual contract. A believer names a house, a salary, or a cure, claims it in the language of certainty, and waits for God to deliver. Seed offerings to a ministry are presented as the down payment. The promise is simple enough to sell from a stage. God wants you rich. Sickness is a confession error. Doubt is the only obstacle between a person and a miracle. Neo-Deism tests that promise the way it tests every supernatural claim, by reason and by what the world actually shows.
If God is First Cause rather than a daily manager of bank accounts, the mechanism cannot work. A creator who established natural laws and then does not intervene cannot reroute payrolls because a sentence was spoken with enough volume. Wealth accumulates through labor, trade, inheritance, invention, and chance operating inside those laws. Health follows biology, sanitation, and medicine. To treat prayer as a purchase order is to deny the order that a First Cause would have set in place. Either the laws hold or the bargain holds. They cannot both hold.
The doctrine also treats words as causal agents. Speak health and the body obeys. Speak debt cancellation and the ledgers rewrite themselves. This is magic wearing the vocabulary of faith. Language can persuade a lender or steady a worker. It cannot repeal infection or obligate a market. Conflating the social power of speech with supernatural causation is the sleight that makes name it and claim it feel practical. A pitch can change a mind. It cannot place a lien on the author of nature.
Observation finishes what logic begins. Faithful people remain poor in every century and on every continent. Unbelievers grow rich without a seed offering. Congregations recite identical formulas and receive identical silence. The pattern is not mysterious. Markets reward scarce skills, capital, and timing. Disease does not consult a believer’s vocabulary. When private jets and studio lighting are funded by people who cannot cover rent, the data do not display divine favor. They display a transfer of money from the anxious to the theatrical. A theology that predicts blessing for the confessing faithful is falsified by the ordinary census of who has money and who has cancer.
Name it and claim it collides with a harder contradiction as well. The Trinion Contradictions state that free will, destiny, and divine intervention cannot occupy the same universe. If God has already destined a believer’s fortune, the spoken claim is theater. If the believer’s free will, and the free will of every employer, customer, and lender, truly governs outcomes, then God is not intervening. If God does intervene to force a promotion or a healing, then other people’s choices and the regularities of nature are overridden. The three cannot be true together. Prosperity preaching pretends they are, because the contradiction is profitable and the audience is rarely invited to inspect it.
Revealed texts are then mined for verses that sound like promissory notes. A line about sowing and reaping is lifted from agriculture or ethics and recast as a banking rule. Neo-Deism rejects that method. Nature is the only scripture that does not require a translator with a donation plate. Thomas Paine argued in Age of Reason that alleged revelation is hearsay to everyone but the original claimant, and that creation itself is the evidence available to all. The same standard applies here. A private impression that God promised a car is not evidence. A thousand such impressions that fail in public are evidence against the doctrine.
Deist writers long warned that religion becomes a trade when intermediaries sell access to power they do not possess. The contemporary form is the seed envelope and the testimony of someone who received a windfall after giving. The ethical injury is not only falsehood. Natural law ethics judges actions by their effects on human welfare under the conditions we actually inhabit. Extracting last dollars from the sick and indebted, while calling the extraction obedience, is a harm dressed as worship. It trains people to blame themselves for tumors and unemployment, which adds cruelty to error. A God who withholds wages until the tone of a prayer is correct would be a tyrant, not a first cause of orderly nature.
Study is the reverence that remains once intervention is set aside. To understand how economies work, how bodies heal, and how chance distributes outcomes is to take the created order seriously. That study does not forbid hope or effort. It relocates them. A person may still save, learn a trade, keep a promise, and help a neighbor, not because a formula purchased favor, but because those acts fit the grain of a lawful world. Gratitude for existence does not require a miracle paycheck.
The prosperity gospel survives because it flatters two hungers at once, the hunger for money and the hunger for a God who takes requests. Reason answers both. Money answers to production and exchange. God, if God is the author of law rather than its suspender, does not. Name it and claim it fails the test not as a matter of taste but as a matter of logic. A non-intervening First Cause cannot be bargained with. A world that runs on regular causes will not rearrange itself for a slogan. What remains is harder and cleaner. Work within nature. Refuse the sale of miracles. Measure every religious promise against what actually happens.
